Dr. Tyler Degener joined the STRIDE team in June of 2024 to lead the Ryan White HIV Medical Clinic. Dr. Degener has completed his medical training in various different cities across the country, including upstate New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, St. Louis, and Denver. He prides himself on the breadth of different experiences gained from training in unique locations and medical institutions, and learning how people practice medicine in different environments.
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Degener has committed himself to caring for different populations most at-risk for health inequities. During his residency years at Los Angeles County Medical Center he practiced general medicine in resource-limited environments for disadvantaged populations including undocumented, unhoused, and Medicaid/Medicare people. He spent two years in sub-specialty training during his Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of Colorado, where he tailored his clinical decision making to the treatment and prevention of a wide variety of Infectious Diseases. He has focused primarily on providing patients with services that include treatment of HIV, HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), sexually transmitted infections (STIs), viral hepatitis infections (hepatitis B and C), sexual health, HPV-associated anal dysplasia, and transgender hormone therapy. Tyler welcomes all patients from all walks of life to his clinic, to provide them with the respect, dignity, and medical treatment that they deserve.
Dr. Degener currently sees patients at our
Peoria and Del Mar locations.
